What are the Chakras?
The word “Chakra” is an ancient Sanskrit word that means “wheel”. There are 7 major Chakras or “wheels of energy” that spin out of the human body. Each Chakra has a particular color and progresses like colors of the rainbow from base to crown
Chakras Through History
The ancient Egyptians, Chinese, Mayans, Hindus, Celts and Native Americans all knew of the Chakras and of their mystical powers. Many pioneers of physics studied what they called “electro-magnetic light” or an energy field that surrounds each of us. More recently there has been a greater acknowledgement of the existence of a human energy field and in particular, a recognition that wellness treatments such as Crystal Healing and Reiki Therapy can help heal us.
What do the Chakras do?
The Chakras are responsible for keeping our bodies balanced, -each Chakra has a specific territory or part of the body that it looks after. When a Chakra is out of balance the result can be physical, emotional, spiritual or mental distress. The lower Chakras (stomach, navel and base) are more focused on physical needs such as survival, protection and pro-creation. The four higher Chakras (heart, throat, third-eye and crown) are responsible for higher states of mind such as love, intelligence and vision.
